How to Join The Hong Kong Award for Young People (Year 9)

Dear Parents and Students in Year 9,

Later this month we will be inviting students to join the Hong Kong Award for Young People. I’d just like to take this opportunity to explain how the selection will work and to give you advanced warning. As this is normally a very popular opportunity it may not be possible for all applicants to get on the programme so we will have a random selection process if this is necessary.

Here is the outline schedule:

May 29th :  Introductory Assembly to Year 9  and Information Sent Home

May 29th to June 5th: Students Sign Up Period (1 Week) This will  be done through the VLE

June 12th:  Successful Students are notified and invited to complete and submit Paperwork and Payment

June 20th: Cut Off Date for Receiving Payment ($2000) and Paperwork Places Confirmed.

June 25th: Any spare places offered to randomly selected students

As we run our HKAYP in partnership with Outward Bound we are expecting to able to offer 80 places this year.

A document highlighting the main features of HKAYP at SIS  is attached for your reference.

Best Regards

Andy Morris

HKAYP and CAS Coordinator

Clip-It & Film-it Competition

Thirteen IBDP Film and IBCP Media students met in the Atrium and Space on the 5th of May to support both the primary and secondary sections of the Education Bureau Clip-It and Film-It competition. Sixty local students and ten teachers gained support from South Island students both via presentations and then 1-1 support.

We wish students and teachers the best of luck in the competition!
