C Grade Girls’ Basketball

What’s real determination? It’s when your team is losing 2-12 to one of the strongest teams in the league, and they still don’t lose hope.

SIS C Grade girls played against St. Paul’s College on Saturday 23rd January. After the first quarter, the scoreboard read 2 -12 to St. Paul’s.  The only SIS basket was scored by Sahana Prasad (8N2). Things were not going well for SIS.

After a quick break and some wise words “play your own game”, from our student coaches, Kelly and Ingrid, we started the second quarter with a lot more fire.  The quote and incredible support from our parent and squad cheerleaders sparked us into life and resulted in amazing performances from the whole team.  A special mention should go to Maeve Young (9K2) for her incredible blocking in defence, Yan Phu (9S2) for her aggressive steals and assists, Bethia Kwok (8N1) and Soo Min Ko (9M1) for their strong defence and ball handling skills and Caitlin Donovan (9N1) for her slick shooting.  All this combined lead us to a victorious score of 21-17.

Thank you to our student coaches (Kelly and Ingrid), Mrs Webster, the C Grade Girls’ squad and dedicated parents. We would not have pushed through without your help and support!

Soo Min Ko (9M1)
