SIS 2 v 1 ICS
ISSFHK Division 1
Goals: Vanessa, Andrea
MVP: Sophie
A stunning victory against last year’s champions. It took 2x wonder goals to seal the victory. After 5 minutes Vanessa volleyed home a deep cross from Kate and that’s how it stayed until half time. The second half started brightly for SIS and they extended their lead after a nice interchange of passes between Vanessa and Hana ended with Andrea blasting a 25 yard strike into the top corner, a pile driver of a shot. After 50 mins SIS nearly extended their lead with Lily B curling a left footed shot onto the post from 20 yards. With 10 minutes to go ICS pulled a goal back which made for a tense finale BUT SIS held on for a well-deserved victory.
On the 6th of March, Support! International Foundation will be hosting their fifth event as a part of our ongoing series: Leaders of Hong Kong Series, in which they will be interviewing Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, a prominent businessman, accomplished innovator and CEO of The Hong Kong Jockey Club. He will be discussing everything from its charity initiatives for the HK community, and how it continues to innovate and adapt as entertainment consumption habits change. He will also be discussing how young people can become successful businesspeople and what he looks for when hiring folks from our generation. This could be an excellent learning opportunity for students in Years 10-13. There are 10 spaces available for SIS students in Years 10 and above. Please email Mrs. Crouch with your name and tutor group by 27th February if you are interested.
Some very exciting news regarding the SIS students who recently entered the HK Joint Schools Biology Olympiad. Nicole Wong (13K2) has been selected in the final round of 13 finalists. The next stage of selection is for the finalists to undertake 4 practical sessions at four different Hong Kong universities before the selection of the final 4 winners in April 2018.
We wish Nicole the best of luck for this final round of the competition!
Congratulations to Emma Standing (8S1) who recently swam several PB’s (personal best) to qualify to swim in HK Division 1 competitions.
