Year 8 – Visual Art

Year 8 students have been exploring the concept of ‘Deconstruction/Reconstruction’ through an investigation into the Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco and his Asterisms. These artworks are often large sculptural installations created from refuse, using taxonomic arrangements. Students used found objects from their immediate environment to transfer the asterism concept to produce their own creative outcomes.

Here is an example of the outstanding use of the MYP Arts process journal to plan, develop and execute an artistic intention by Amaanat Rehki

Here is a link to more asterisms created by our Year 8 students. These works were influenced by Orozco and the British artist Andy Goldsworthy.
