Sports Bulletin – 1 November 2019

The Boys’ and Girls’ Cross-Country teams took on the challenging Fanling golf course again this year in the HKSSF Division 1 competition. Against some very talented opposing athletes, there were some outstanding runs from South Island School students. In the C grade competition, Tessa Schraven and Leo Doyle both finished 10th out of over 110 runners. Dominic Davidson finished 5th in the B grade category, whilst the B Grade Boys’ and Girls’ teams had strong 6th places finishes overall.   Congratulations to everyone who ran this year, and we look forward to the upcoming ISSFHK competition in January.

The South Island School Boys Swimming Team achieved a number of successes in a very competitive HKSSF competition in October. There were some outstanding performers, with Ian Mok, Parish Lai and Taka Leong all claiming gold medals in their events. There were plenty of silver and bronze medals as well, with Josh Wang, Justin Kim, Spencer Penman, Boet van den Heuvel and Henry Chy all swimming superbly in their individual finals. The relay teams claimed medals as well, resulting in the team finishing an excellent third overall. Congratulations to all the boys who competed for the school, producing one of the best team performances in years.
