HKSSF Athletics

Congratulations! South Island Athletics team managed to secure a 2nd place trophy for the A grade boys and a 4th place overall boys finish (A, B and C grades combined). This is a massive achievement, which we are all very proud of, and a big improvement from last year. The girls also performed fantastically, with the A grade girls finishing 4th, C grade girls finishing 3rd and an overall 4th place girls finish (A, B and C grades combined).

There were many memorable moments over the course of the competitions. Jimmy Standing, Conor McLaughlin, Richard Ku and Dominik Vagner managed to finish in first place in such an intense race of the A grade boys 4x400m run. In the 4x400m C grade girls’ race where Naomi Teng, Ella Uyede, Emma Standing and Marisa Lau secured 2nd place in their relay, losing out on first place by only 3 seconds. They show so much promise and have a good few years of competitions left where they can get that first place medal.

Youth Olympic Games

Jacqueline Chu (11C1) and Isabel Li (11C2) are SIS students on the Hong Kong National Hockey Junior Squad. They may get the chance to compete in the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires this October. They both play club hockey for the same HKFC team.

With Jacqueline as captain this season, their team holds the Hong Kong record for most goals scored in a league game, 24-0!

Both Jacqueline and Isabel have worked hard in the youth olympics training squad and are hoping to be selected to be part of the final squad of 9 that will be sent to Bangkok this April to play in the Youth Olympic Games Asian Qualifiers tournament.

Fingers crossed that they make it to the final squad!

For extra information, feel free to email Jacqueline Chu at chuk8@webmail.sis.edu.hk

ESF Stakeholder Survey

Stakeholders will soon be invited by email to participate in the biennial ESF Stakeholder Survey, which will be open from 5th to 19th March 2018. Through this survey we aim to find out about the impressions that parents, staff and students have formed about the education we provide. The feedback from the survey will help us build on our strengths and inform our future planning.

A parent invite will be emailed to the primary contact parent in your family on 5th March.  If you have a child at another ESF school you will receive a separate invite  to participate in that school’s survey (Please note that the school specific questions will be different). Students in Years 7-13 will also receive an email inviting them to participate in the survey.

We would be very grateful if you would spare the time to complete the survey. It’s shorter than in the past and takes about 15-20 minutes to complete (though may take a little longer if you wish to add comments in the optional comment boxes).
