Well done to Megan who represented Swish Thai Boxing Club of Hong Kong in an event organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR to promote and raise awareness of sports in HK at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wanchai just over the past weekend.

PTA PARENT SOCIAL EVENING (7th September)

South Island School PTA LTD would like to welcome all parents and invite you to attend a social gathering on:

Place: The SPACE, 5th Floor, South Island School, 50 Nam Fung Road, Aberdeen.

The Parent Social Evening will follow after the SIS PTA LTD Annual General Meeting (which will start at 6:30 pm). The social will be an opportunity for parents to meet the Principal – Mr. Graham Silverthorne, to meet other parents, as well as meeting some of Heads of House, School Council Members and PTA Committee Members.

NOTICE is given that the Annual General Meeting of the South Island School Parent Teacher Association Limited will be held on :-

for the following purposes: –

To receive and consider the audited Financial Statements of the Company for the year ended 30^th June 2017
To elect Committee Members
To appoint Auditors – FTW & Partners CPA Limited retired and offer themselves for re-appointment
To transact any other ordinary business of the Company

Election of the 2017-2018 PTA Committee will take place and all parents are eligible to vote. If you wish to join the PTA Committee or to NOMINATE a parent to join the PTA Committee, please download and complete the Nomination Form. The Nomination Form should be returned to the Chairman on/before 1 September 2017 (1600 hours) by email pta@sis.edu.hk or to PTA Office.

PTA (School Bus)

School Bus – Unauthorised Bus Users

During a recent ad-hoc bus pass checks, we found a small number of unauthorized bus users.
Please be reminded that the school buses are for students with valid bus passes. If you are not a bus user, please do not travel on the school bus. Any students found travelling without a bus pass will be reported to their Head of House.
If you have lost your bus pass, please bring a photo and $10 to the PTA office to get a replacement.

Lost Property on School Buses

Please be reminded that for any property lost on the school bus, you should call the bus company (Kwoon Chung) at 2578 1178 as soon as possible.

When you call them please: –

Tell them that you are a student at South Island School
Tell them that you called to report a lost item on the school bus
Give them the bus number, the date and whether it was lost in the morning or after-school when the item was lost
Kwoon Chung will ask for your phone number to call you back, so please have a contact number ready for them. If you do not have a phone number to give them, you can tell them that you will call them back to check the status. Also ask for the name of the person you are speaking to.

NIGHTFEST 2017

To mark the 40^th Anniversary of South Island School, the theme of this year’s NIGHTFEST will be “40FEST”. This annual fund raising event is open to our community, their friends and family. This will be the 6^th consecutive year we have held the fair.

SIS Students are invited to participate in NIGHTFEST 2017 Poster Design Contest.

The theme of the event will be 40FEST in celebrating the 40th Anniversary of South Island School. Poster can be emailed to sisptafair2017@gmail.com or drop at the PTA office or Reception by 1st September 2017

SIS 40th Birthday Celebration, 5th September

September 5^th 1977 was the very first day of school for students at South Island. This year on Sept 5^th we are going to have a whole day of birthday celebrations to mark the opening of the school 40 years ago.

All students will be involved in our party and the activities are being planned by our Y13 students, the Student Council and our MaD council. We will be having a huge birthday cake at the start of the day and a whole school photo. The activities being organized have all been chosen by the students themselves. Activities include ‘SIS has got Talent’ Show, Art and Design Activities, A History Quiz, Time Capsule and a Scavenger Hunt.

After Lunch the whole school will be taking part in a Sponsored Walk because we feel that our SIS Values are best illustrated by a giving birthday celebration. A route has been marked out taking students down to Repulse Bay. Grate care will be taken with stewarding and Police will be aware. Staff and students will all be taking part and we have set them the challenge of getting as many sponsors as possible. We want every child to raise at least $100. The money raised will be going towards our pledge to the Jumpstart Kindergarten / Family Academy fund in the Philippines. Sponsor forms has been given out in Assembly on Friday.
