SIS Gratitude Week

From the 26th to 30th of June, Gratitude Week will be a time to thank our ‘support systems’. This year, the main focus of our thanks will be our domestic helpers, many of whom come from the Philippines, the country where our Jumpstart kindergarten is located. As part of our ‘thank you’, there will be a variety of activities, including several fundraising activities in support of our Malayang Mangarap (Free to Dream) our Jumpstart kindergarten in the Philippines.

Events are as follows:

26-30th of June:

‘Selfie with a story’ competition! There will be a ‘Gratitude wall’ in the foyer for students to pin selfies of  themselves and their helper. It can be a specific thank you or any other ‘story’ that lies behind the photo.

Word of the day – each day, there will be a word in Tagalog, the language of the Philippines, for students to learn in the 10 minute tutor session.

26th of June:

Bake for Bacolod! Buy baked goodies outside the atrium, made by SIS Students.

28th and 29th June

Run for Philippines: The Sponsored ‘Run to the Philippines’ (the final inter house event of the year – the outcome of the House Cup could depend on this!) is for Years 7-9. This will take place around the 400m track in the lower playground. Any student in Y7-9 can run in their House team – Housepoints will be awarded for 1) the number of laps run by each House and 2) the amount of sponsorship raised by each House. Sponsor forms will be available online and also at Reception, and further details of the event will follow.

  • 28th June (lunch): Kuca and Maison
  • 29th June (break): Casa and Bahay
  • 29th June (lunch): Namas and Shtepi

30th of June:

Dress Casual day!  Students may wear non uniform and donate on this last day of school.

All the money raised during the Week will go to our Jumpstart Kindergarten!

Thank you,
The SIS ‘Making A Difference’ Council
