Laptop Purchase Program

Welcome to the South Island School Laptop program.

Laptop Purchase

We strongly recommend that you read the entire contents of this page before proceeding with the purchase of your laptop.  There are 3 components of the laptop program that you need consider.  The respective order forms for two of these components are available at the bottom of this page, the third, Zurich Insurance Application Form is available when the laptop is picked collected at school.

Three Components of the 1:1 Laptop Program

Apple MacBook (Required)

At the heart of our laptop program is the Apple MacBook.  South Island School has partnered with Apple to make available a laptop which leverages the power of integrated media and dynamic learning, supporting students in a rich learning environment.  Apple has prepared a special package, available to all students at SIS, including 3 year hardware support and a competitive plan.

SIS students are eligible to purchase 1 laptop and 1 desktop computer per year.  The order forms are below.

Additionally, Apple has provided SIS with an on-site Service Centre to provide on-going support and care for all laptops purchased through the South Island School Apple Laptop Purchase Program.  This ensures the quickest turn-around time if the computer requires support by having all work done here, on-site.

MacBook Laptop Order Form

Please download this form, fill it out and fax it to 800-968-812.  Apple Sales will contact you between 2 and 3 days after they have recieved the fax.  The laptop will be delivered directly to the school between 5 and 10 working days after payment has been arranged. 

Do not send this order form to South Island School.  We do not process any orders.

Apple Desktop Order Form

Please download this form, fill it out and fax it to 800-968-812.  Apple Sales will contact you between 2 and 3 days after they have recieved the fax.  The laptop will be delivered directly to the schoolbetween 5 and 10 working days after payment has been arranged. 

Do not send this order form to South Island School.  We do not process any orders.

Microsoft Office for Mac - Home and Student Edition (Required)

To facilitate communication, collaboration and document sharing between all students, teachers and other members of our education community, we have adopted Microsoft's Office for Mac - Home and Student Edition as the defacto office suite for use at SIS.  This is the only software students are required to purchase.

A single user copy of MS Office for Mac - Home & Student Edition 2008 can be purchased at a discounted price in the PTA Shop, on the ground floor of the main school block.

Note: If you already have a Windows based copy of MS Office it will not work on the Mac laptop, you need the version for Mac OS X. 

Zurich Insurance (Optional)

Regretfully accidents happen.  No matter how careful you plan, there is always the chance that something will happen.  In recognition of this possibility, South Island School has parternered with Zurich Insurance to provide low cost accidental damage and loss insurance coverage.

Order forms for Zurich Insurance are provided when the laptop is collected by your student.  Insurance orders require the laptop serial number be submitted on the application form; this number cannot be provided before the laptop is delivered.  If you wish to purchase this insurance, it must be done with in 3 weeks of the being laptop collected by the student.
