Welcome to the South Island School Laptop program.
We strongly recommend that you read the entire contents of this page before proceeding with the purchase of your laptop. There are 3 components of the laptop program that you need consider. The respective order forms for two of these components are available at the bottom of this page, the third, Zurich Insurance Application Form is available when the laptop is picked collected at school.

Three Components of the 1:1 Laptop Program
Microsoft Mac Office - Student Teacher Edition
At the heart of our laptop program is the Apple MacBook. South Island School has partnered with Apple & Senco-Masslink to make available a laptop which leverages the power of integrated media and dynamic learning, supporting students in a rich learning environment. A special package has been designed, available to all students at SIS, that includes 3 year on-site hardware and technical support.
SIS students are eligible to purchase 1 laptop computer per year. The order form is below.
Additionally, Apple has provided SIS with an on-site Service Centre to provide on-going support and care for all laptops purchased through the South Island School Apple Laptop Purchase Program. This ensures the quickest turn-around time if the computer requires support by having all work done here, on-site.
MacBook Laptop Order Form (updated 2nd, June)
The MacBook order form can be downloaded here: MacBook Order Form. From order to delivery, the process usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. The procedure instructions for placing your order are included in the document.
Order forms are submitted to the ICT Department office located on the 3rd floor of the main building.
4th Year Apple Protection Plan (APP) Order Form (Updated August 26th)
For families in the 3rd and final year of their warranty you can purchase one additional year of warranty coverage, APP, for your Apple computer. Download and print the order form. Unlike laptop and desktop order forms, this order form IS turned in to the 3rd Floor ICT Office of South Island School so that eligibility can be confirmed.
Please read the full Terms & Conditions of the document before submitting your order. Some key points are:
- This offer is only valid for current enrolled students
- Incomplete orders cannot be processed
- This offer is only available for students before the existing warranty expires
- This offer has been extended until August 31st. (a revised offer will be made available after the start of the school year.)

If you have any questions about your MacBook order, please telephone the Apple Store Hotline at: 800-908-988, Monday Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm, except public holidays.
Microsoft Office for Mac (Academic) - (Required)
To facilitate communication, collaboration and document sharing between all students, teachers and other members of our education community, we have adopted Microsoft's Office (Academic) as the defacto office suite for use at SIS. This is the only software students are required to purchase.
A single user copy of MS Office for Mac can be purchased with your MacBook using the same order form as your MacBook Order Form. If you have more than one child you will need to purchase each child a copy of the software.
Note: If you already have a Windows based copy of MS Office it will not work on the Mac laptop, you need the version for Mac OS X.
Regretfully accidents happen. No matter how careful you plan, there is always the chance that something will happen. In recognition of this possibility, South Island School has partnered with Zurich Insurance to provide low cost accidental damage and loss insurance coverage.
Order forms for Zurich Insurance are provided when the laptop is collected by your student. Insurance orders require the laptop serial number be submitted on the application form; this number cannot be provided before the laptop is delivered. If you wish to purchase this insurance, it must be done with in 3 weeks of the being laptop collected by the student.
