Inspiring Myself

The BTEC Art and Design Entry Level 3 students have been working on the theme of ‘myself’ and this has involved an investigation into self-portraiture, their identity, emotions, personal culture and community culture. In order to develop ideas for work in 2 dimensions within this theme, the group went to The Peak to get inspiration for the project. Alongside photographing Hong Kong’s iconic skyline, we visited the “Madness 3D Adventure”, an interactive experience through 3D artworks created by local artists that features a series of famous Hong Kong scenes. The students were able to capture photos with pandas; partaking in the annual scrambling competition at the Cheung Chau Bun Festival;  bungee jumping from Sky Terrace 428; or pulling the Peak Tram up the Peak by themselves! Y10 student Kevin Shen said ” I really liked taking photos of the view and doing different poses in the 3D museum!”. Using these photos the students will try out drawing techniques experimenting with colours, lines, forms and tones all centred on the theme of culture in Hong Kong.
